# Why I'm doing this

> Why Massimo is building self-writing autobiographies: everyone has a story that never gets told, AI finally makes one possible, and it is meant to be browsed rather than read from start to finish.

At the fundamental level, I'm building [context-use](https://github.com/massimoalbarello/context-use) because I deeply believe each one of us has an amazing story to tell, which for the most part is never told. Unfortunately, there aren't enough [Walter Isaacsons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Isaacson) in the world.

Now, though, thanks to AI — and a bit of taste and guidance from the subject — it's possible for each of us to have our own self-writing autobiography. [Here is mine!](https://massimo.context-use.com/p/about/intro)

### How to read it

This is not meant to be read like a traditional biography, from start to finish. For that we would really need Walter, to bring all the information together into a beautiful story.

Instead, these self-writing autobiographies are meant to be browsed through, like one of those fancy coffee table books.

You pick whatever parts are most interesting to you, or let yourself be driven by [the hypermedia](https://massimo.context-use.com/p/about/chapters/2020-2024_zurich/2021-2022_web-of-things/story).

### Why not a feed

I believe the current feed-like structures of social networks are too linear to express one's self. Also, there the incentives are biased towards getting the most likes, reactions and all the other bullshit.

There are better alternatives like [Substack](https://substack.com/), but they look too editorial to me. This is the place where you can be unfiltered and in complete control over your story. The content is meant to be published as raw as possible, so that people can truly see who you are.

### The private side

On the less philosophical side, this is not only acting as a public autobiography for others to read. There is also a private side to it, accessible only to me and my agents — think of it like an [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) vault or a [Gbrain](https://github.com/garrytan/gbrain), where part of it can be made public to the world.

I found Obsidian to be extremely valuable as a personal context layer, but I noticed the limitations of a tool not designed for that purpose. So, I [did it my way](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQzdAsjWGPg).
